Visa Schmisa

Wow– have you ever seen an application for a Chinese Visa?  It is seriously cookoo for cocoa puffs.  My initial thought was that I could get the visas for everyone in our party– and maybe I still can but I am not filling out all those applications!  The idea of doing it for my own family of 5 is giving me a headache.  My favorite part?  You have to include an “invitation” to visit.  Granted this can be in the form of a hotel reservation or tour company letter, but still.  They don’t let just anyone hang around the country!

In the meantime, we’re finalizing trip details and managed to get a bonus extra day added to the trip after AA up and changed our return flight on Nov. 23.  Result was everyone would miss their connecting flights and only option was to move to the same flight next day.  Bonus– when rescheduling for 9 of us we didn’t get charged to redo the main cabin seat upgrades that we had initially paid for.  The computer system was down or too slow or something so finally the agent gave up and just moved the seats for free.   I’ve shied away from calling any customer service after about 8 pm central time b/c the quality of help I have had has been abyssmal.  In this instance it paid off–good agent and a computer glitch that was probably due to middle of the night maintenance that helped me out.

Result– Mama gets her unlimited alcohal seat upgrade for freeeee!
